Adsorption-based atmospheric water harvesting: A review of adsorbents and systems

Atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) has been an appealing prospect for decades to overcome scarcity in remote areas. Adsorption-based AWH technologies have gained popularity due their adaptability, and applicability using low-grade heat sources. This study presents up-to-date future possibilities of adsorbents systems adsorption-based AWH. In this review, in-depth advancements adsorbent materials are compartmentalized into adsorption equilibrium/isotherms, kinetics, thermal conductivity. Various designs modifications reviewed classified accordingly. Liquid desiccants i.e., CaCl2 LiCl-based produced between 0.63 1.0 kg/m/d water. Recently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) realized as effective Their excellent hydrophilicity, structural integrity, tailorable structures can provide high low relative humidity (RH) MOF-841 MOF-801 yielded maximum uptakes at 25 °C 0.5 0.3 g/g, respectively. showed production 0.2-0.3 L/kg/d 5%-40% RH 20-40°C.
